You have upped your beauty routine but still don’t have the perfect complexion you are after – here are a few beauty pledges you should honour:

Resolution: Face wipes are for emergencies only
Sure they are easy to use, and definitely a better option than not washing your face at all, but face wipes should never be part of your regular skincare regime. Most face wipes are filled with chemicals that can strip your skin of its natural moisture, leaving it sensitive and blotchy. Rather keep them for emergencies only.

Resolution: Start growing your hair
While short hair on brides, and in general, is very trendy and funky, the hottest looks at the moment are flowing locks and intricate braids – looks that both work best on longer hair. Keep your hair in good condition and go for trims if you have to, but resist the urge to chop it off – that way you will have the perfect crowning glory for your wedding day.

Resolution: Get rid of dull skin cells
Make sure your pores are clean and unblocked by removing dead skin cells and impurities with an exfoliator. You don’t want to overdo it and land up with raw, red skin so once or twice a week is more than enough. If you have super-sensitive skin look for a fruit acid exfoliator instead of one that contains little beads or particles.

Resolution: Strengthen and condition your hair
It’s a great idea to join a gym, it’ll keep you in shape, healthy and can ease tension and stress. Just be sure to not let it damage your hair. Sweat is full of salt which leaches moisture from your skin, so if you do a tough workout and get a little sweaty be sure to spritz on a leave-in conditioner into your hair to avoid it from drying out.

Resolution: Resist the urge to touch
Yes, yes, you know – don’t squeeze your pimples! Well that’s not the only thing you should be leaving alone. By touching your face in any way, you are spreading oil and dirt across your face. Try and touch your face as little as possible, and if you absolutely have to make sure you wash your hands before you do.

Resolution: Go to bed earlier
With all the planning you have to do for your big day it’s difficult to get in enough sleep. But think about this, when you are at sleep your body is hard at work repairing and protecting your skin from daily damages. You need at least 8 hours of beauty sleep to get the best rejuvenation for your skin.

Resolution: Clean your tools
How many times a day do you use your hair and make-up brushes, twice, maybe three times a day? Now how often do you clean them? Dirt, oil, bacteria and product residue build up very easily on these tools, so wash them regularly in warm, soapy water to keep them clean and hygienic. Once a week is ideal, but once a month will work too.

Resolution: Less is more
When it comes to both your hair and skin always opt for the more natural route. Natural beauty is a huge trend this year, yay, and it is a lot kinder to your body – plus it’s generally the easier, fuss-free and more manageable way to go.
