Getting the most out of your wedding vendors is easier than you think. Just keep these things top of mind…

Choose the right vendors
Before you do anything, you and your fiancé must decide what’s most important to you on your big day. Is it location, food, flowers, music, photography… or some kind of combination of these? Once you have your top three priorities, you can allocate your budget accordingly and start researching wedding vendors. The best place to start? Newlyweds who have been through it all before, as they’ve already done all the research and have picked their top choices, which will save you a lot of extra homework at the beginning.
Ask the experts
Ask vendors you already trust to recommend potential wedding vendors. They’ve been through it all and will know who the reliable, efficient and good companies are – and the problematic ones too. Another option is to consider a wedding planner – particularly if you have a very demanding schedule. The benefit of a wedding planner is that they usually have all of the best connections and might actually save you money in the end with discounts or exclusive offers. Mostly though, they take the burden and heavy grunt work out of planning a wedding.
What to look for in a vendor
Any vendor you choose needs to be reliable, that’s the most important thing. If you get even an inkling that this might be a problem, walk away. Immediately. Before you pay a deposit. You need to trust your gut on this one. The last thing you need is for someone to let you down the day before your wedding. Choose a vendor that is professional and specialises in what you are looking for. A company that offers both hair and make-up or both photography and videography, for example, might be significantly better at one, so choose carefully. It sounds obvious, but choose vendors who have experience in the wedding industry, so that they are aware of the pressures and potential pitfalls beforehand.
