The Theme
This understated yet striking look is based on a colour palette of greys, white and cream brought to life with pops of mustard yellow and a hint of fresh greenery. Mustard yellow, an often-overlooked colour, is set to shine this season. No longer reserved for country and vintage looks, this take on the sassy hue is modern, trendy and relatable.
This theme would suit a contemporary couple who are willing to explore the range of this versatile colour range, and who also enjoy seasonal flowers.
Flowers
The flowers, arranged and sourced by Wildeflower, showcase the hanging floral trend. These installations include a variety of seasonal flowers and foliage, and to avoid distracting from the suspended florals, only greenery and gold candlesticks are used on the tables. The hanging installation is a mixture of colours from mustard yellow to deep maroon – roses embody a delicate fullness, wild olives and berries add texture and interest as they cascade from the arrangements, and the tulips allow for a wild looseness and sense of whimsy. The orchids are purely for dramatic effect.
Decor
The colour scheme includes grey tones mixed with natural whites, creams and pops of mustard yellow. Black crockery and cutlery add a bold touch, while gold elements complete the look. Textured elements such as scatter cushions with a weave fabric create visual interest.
Top Tips for the Big Day
Start with the basics and create a background of earth tones throughout the event space, and then add interesting elements in shades of mustard yellow. Don’t overdo the colour as it will lose its striking effect and may overwhelm the entire look and feel. Ensure that your suppliers all have a similar idea of the colour you want as there can be many variations of the same hue and you need the overall look to match.
