POETRY AW19 HOMEWARE COLLECTION – AN INVITATION TO WEAVE YOUR OWN STYLE NARRATIVE

The Poetry Homeware autumn/winter range for 2019 will be available in stores and online from April. This year’s collection was inspired by the very essence of the Poetry woman. Eclectic and timeless, she takes heed of trends but draws on her own well of life experiences and creativity to curate an effortless look that conveys her signature style in a contemporary way throughout her home. She weaves her own narrative and does so with a keen appreciation of the finer things in life.

This season we’ve decided to give the Poetry woman free rein by crafting a collection of high-quality, feminine homeware staples, lifestyle accessories and modern collectables that will allow her to indulge in the joy of feathering a unique and considered nest. To this end, we’ve carefully sourced, designed and selected products locally and from around the world, driven by our passion for age-old craftsmanship and a desire to pave the way for a rewarding journey of personal discovery.

Boldly going in an inspiring new direction

The AW19 collection fosters cosiness and togetherness and inspires the Poetry woman to create a welcoming sanctuary to nurture and entertain. This is the season to make your home an inviting, intimate space where you can relax, enjoy a lovely cup of tea or have friends and family around for an intimate dinner party, against a fresh new canvas that tells your style story effortlessly.

Greens, ochres, blacks and pinks are front and centre, with bold composites like terrazzo enjoying some well-deserved time in the limelight. As always, handcrafted elements reign supreme and botanical prints and patterns add a feminine touch to the homeware range.

Global diamond patterns offer a graphic update on folk-inspired looks, extending to texture and tufting on textiles. Marble also continues to trend, with black, white and green adding freshness for winter; while wood adds warmth and depth of texture, especially in combination with marble and brass elements.

Eat, drink & be merry

Get ready for an invigorating range of updated favourites and bestsellers. Our marble range and local crockery selection from Wonki Ware and Kapula have been extended to include new styles and colours. The in-store range of confectionary and pantry staples include new editions to nougats, chocolates and oils. Beverages such as the alcohol-free “bubbly” from The Duchess Virgin Gin & Tonic and teas that have been sourced with care from local artisans.

Wood elements are very much in vogue, adding warmth to cake stands, salad servers, coasters, boards, tapas sets and more. Simultaneously, a soft feminine botanical story unfolds in pinks across textiles and crockery including aprons, tea towels, pot holders, oven gloves and hand-painted ceramics. Avid bakers can look forward to gorgeous ceramic muffin pans, pie dishes, measuring cups and rolling pins, as well as wood and brass measuring spoons, stunning brass cake servers and new printed cake forks. We also have a beautiful range of cast iron teapots available.

Ceramics get some extra love this season, making up a large portion of our locally-made contribution and also providing a highly flexible space for creativity. Our Wonki Ware collection remains strong, bolstered by a new terracotta-based range; while our hand-painted range of Kapula cups has evolved into a collection of unique pieces, each hand-painted by a talented local artist, tipped with details in real gold.

This season sees the appearance of the Amazona range of Portuguese crockery. The collection brings through beautiful green glazes on dinner- and side plates, soup bowls and platters.  A select range of black Laguiole cutlery (including a soup spoon) and matte-black bakeware completes the setting by adding a touch of drama to the tablescape.

In a supporting role, we are introducing the Gaia range – a darker based floral range including cups and saucers, a salt and pepper set, as well as a butter dish. Another new addition to the AW19 homeware collection is a collection of soft pink and burgundy items, which includes mugs, a sugar spoon, a sugar bowl and a milk jug.

Textiles see a range of new block-printed tablecloths and tea towels from India in the season’s newest colours and whimsical trims like fringing and pompoms, and our board and coaster ranges boast new organic shapes that imbue these items a softer more feminine feel.

Self-care central

We are proud to say that almost all of our bath and body products are locally made, including our elegant range of candles and diffusers that take a strong and fragrant stride into AW19. Look out for a new bath and body collection that will be launching with exciting new designs, as well as an exquisite jewellery stand and vanity mirror crafted from this season’s hottest material, terrazzo. To bring home the cosiness, we are also introducing two new styles of hot water bottles – one with a beautiful cabled texture, and a second colour-blocked version in ochre, black and pink.

The joy of gifting

If there is one thing the Poetry woman adores, it’s finding the perfect gift, and this season you’ll have plenty to choose from. AW19 broadens the scope with marble and wood cheese board and -knife sets, notebooks in floral and animal prints; as well as mini hand-cream two-packs, body scrub and -butter gift boxes; and a gorgeous cast iron teapot with cups. We are also very excited to offer a new travel set for discerning globetrotters who want to enjoy their own creature comforts even as they travel – a small blanket and eye mask in a knit bag that pops effortlessly into a carry-on.

Living between the beats

The most exciting development in the lifestyle category is without a doubt the introduction of Poetry furniture – a small range of limited edition, hand-selected furniture items that suit the Poetry woman’s lifestyle to a T. This includes a chair, two velvet ottomans, and a bench that pairs beautifully with our range of bestselling milk-and-black tufted rugs, as well as the new range of wool and cotton rugs in this season’s trendiest colours.

We continue to offer a range of handmade quilts from Jaipur, adding a selection of stunning new throws that include a colour-block option, and a quilted mélange that comes with a beautiful leather strapping handle and matching scatter pillow. Baskets also remain big, with lovely jute and cotton options in the season’s latest colours (blacks, ochres and greens) that can be used in multiple ways, from laundry hampers to planters.

Sweet, sweet slumber

Sleepwear is a huge trend and we have the perfect range that sets the scene for ultimate relaxation. From dark-based burgundy florals, soft pink oriental prints and polka dots in satin, cotton and viscose, to a luxe pink pyjama set with black contrast piping that comes with an eye mask (perfect for gifting!) there is a sleepwear set in this range to suit every slumber style.

Whether you punctuate your current look and feel with a few choice items, or choose to reinvigorate your entire homeware palette, there is a wide variety of inspiring Poetry homeware elements with which to experiment this season.
